A Newbie with a Spark Plug Question

Post by Roger R »

I have recently acquired a renovated 1961 G2S which has been converted to 12v with a solid state rectifier. It is fitted with an NGK R BR8ES plug but in one of the documents I have it states that a resistance plug should not be used. Does that still apply with the 12v conversion fitted? I was thinking of changing it for either a B7 or 8ES or Champion N4C. Your suggestions would be appreciated.

Excuse the very basic question but I am a complete novice to the world of classic bikes my only other experience is that I have just finished dismantling and spraying up a `58 James Cadet and putting it together will start soon (now where on my PC did I save those photos  ).

A resistor plug is a no go for a magneto as they need as much energy as possible to produce a good spark but with your coil ignition it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Thanks for the reply. Would it still be beneficial to fit a non resistor plug?
