How did all the paint get out the tank after dipping, I wonder. I'm sure the lightweight tank with metallic look finish was gun sprayed . As tanks seem to have a light coating of Blue or Red over silver. Hand dipping one tank must have been boring and difficult to calculate time rising it from the tank of paint. I only have experience of furniture trade Dipping. That was only legs, like the tapered round coffee table type, That were also used as legs on side boards dressing tables etc. The legs were fitted with the threaded stud that screwed into T nuts on furniture. One man would work two tanks. A jig had perhaps 50 legs screwed into it, then lowered into the tank. It rose mechanically at the desired speed. By the time the 1st tank had finished, the second would have been re loaded ready for dipping. The clear lacquer dried quickly as the legs rose up out of the tank.

The later tanks didn't have the lugs - perhaps they weren't required if the tanks were then being sprayed.
