Motorcycle Day 10th July.

Post by neil cairns »

You are all invited, on any age or type of motorcycle, to the Leighton Buzzard Railway's "MOTORCYCLE DAY" on Sunday the 10th July. It is free entry, to be held at Pages Park, Billington Road, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 4TN. There will be lots of bikes on display, driver a steam engine for a fiver, industrial loco display and our WW1 engines and waggons (of which the Baldwin '778' is famous). Lots more info on <www.buzzrail.co.uk> under events. The show is also in support of local charities and the East Anglian Air Ambulance. The 'AJS&MOC' connection is that the currently still living Chief Mechanical Engineer of one of the huge Sand Mining Companies is a Matchless fan, and has two in his collection. He and his father rode motorcycles all over the area servicing and repairing sand mining equipment from 1937 till 1961. These used motorcycles because the terrain was too difficult for four wheeled vehicles (hence the railway being built in 1919 using ex-WW1 equipment from France...still running today). A date for your diary. Clubs and charities who want a free stand, contact me on < n.cairns650@btinternet.com >
