Post by Stuoyb »

Classic Oils is a company that specialises in lubricants for classic vehicles and offer an extensive range of products and brands.
Included within their range is Penrite semi-fluid grease suitable for Burman gearboxes.
Classic oils are able to supply over the counter from their Aylesbury shop or can ship anywhere within the UK at reasonable rates.
A discount of 6.5% is available to club members who wish to order online - simply enter discount code AMOC65 in the appropriate box when completing checkout.
This discount is available against all products on their website.

This is a promotion by the club parts service for the benefit of members.
There is also a link from the online parts service with details of the offer.

No, however it could go in recommendations or as a discount is offered on the links page.

The only reason I queried it is because a few years ago I posted on the forum that if any members introduced themselves to me at a show I had a stand on at Malvern, I would let them have a tax disc holder at cost price. I thought it would be a good way to make contacts at no financial benefit to me.

Within the hour I had a phne call from CR asking me to remove the post as four members had already complained! I would have thought that was an offer of benefit to members, but they didn't like it at all.

Still sulking a bit :(

Advertising is not allowed as we have an adverts section for that. That should be considered finale. However, should something be considered a benefit to members only, perhaps the rule could be relaxed. Keep under control by coming only from a committee member with consideration from monitors and Advertising manager.

Isn't posting links to items on eBay as often happens, advertising also? I'm not objecting to it, but the "no advertising" rule does seem to be invoked in a rather haphazard way.

I think we are missing the point here what Stuart has done is set up a scheme for you as members to buy the products form the main supplier direct at a discount as at Kettering we can not stock all the different oils that this company offer. Please tell me if I am wrong.
