" Lancastershire" surely PDT is a Doncaster registration ie Yorkshire not tother side a hills , But he must have gone foreign ( well L....shire ) for the TTJ . ( early example of grey import perhaps ) Hope he paid Import duty when he brought it into gods country .

I thought you said PDT was an error and it should had read PTD.
PDT is Doncaster and as stated TTJ is Lancashire.

What were the years of the bikes I wonder,
both reg. letters were used twice in the 1950's & 1960's
PDT was 1954, then revised in 1964, TTJ was 1954 then revised in 1961.
Perhaps the 1953 was not sold untill 1954.
The 1955 machine would had been available at & atfter the motor cycle show in 1954, so was sold Nov or Dec 1954.

THANKS for your replies, as i stated on the request for any information of my brothers two competion machines,PTD 343, was a 1953 500cc AJS and was then traded in for a 1955 350 cc Matchless. Both were bought brand new from Kings of Manchester, then road over the Border to GOD;S county (YORKSHIRE) and road in local SCRAMBLES over a period of approx 5 years by my eldest brother HARRY HEMSWORTH who is now almost 82 years of age. REGARDS ALF HEMSWORTH.
