THE RED ROCKET 🚀

Post by 1957M30 »

Am the current new custodian of a RED1957 M30 Reg USJ 631 and am seeking its History.

There are a few posts on the Forum regarding this machine and it has been suggested my
A member in Yorkshire that this machine was Infact built by non other than the founder of
This Club namely John Trant....!!! ( the member himself was one of four people that brought it
Out of Johns Attic, where as I understand it was built.

Alas I have gleaned no other information and an keen to find out more about the provenance.

With this in mind I ask that this letter with photo attachement be posted in Jampot
so my search will reach a much larger user group.

Kind regards

With nothing more than a picture of a bike, I do not think there's much chance of tracing history. You need the bike details. The reg. no. is age related. Probably issued in the 1990's. For any chance of tracing history via a reg. no. you will need the original number if known. The dating officer should be able to tell you if the frame was AJS or Matchless and the model the frame was used for. He could also tell if the engine was with the frame when new. If John Trant built the bike, perhaps he could tell you something. Have you asked him?? If not write a letter to him, put it in an envelope and send it to Club HQ address at Kettering, asking them to forward it to John. Don't forget to put a stamp on the letter to be forwarded. Also include a stamped addressed envelope with the letter to John. That is normal practise if expect a person to make a reply. Good Luck.

John no longer appears on the membership list so the club HQ may have difficulty in forwarding a letter.

Hi Clive
Have not only been in contact with John but he has been kind enough to sent some artefacts that pertain to my machine from
when it was built as an 350cc single throught to its current 600cc Twin build.
I would think that an article in jampot would be of interest with regard to pages 4 and 5 of the April 2007 Jampot (issue 657) as the Red Rocket is in the photo.

any thoughts on this ???

and thanks again for your input and time
