According to the DVLA website it's still on the road but they don't give locations.

As you probably know it's still on the DVLA records (tax not due til 07/02/15).....
Vehicle enquiry
The vehicle details for PBN 17 are:
Date of Liability 07 02 2015
Date of First Registration 25 09 1959
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 500cc
COâ‚‚ Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour BLACK
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available

But shown as 'not insured' which may mean that the ins company hasn't updated the AskMid database yet or the cover isn't due to begin until 07/02/14........ so currently it's classed as 'not insured'.

askMID.com — Stay Insured. Stay Legal

PBN17
is NOT showing as insured on the Motor Insurance Database today.

Oops, yes, my mistake. I was reading liability as meaning it is taxed but it must be SORNed. Still, it's around somewhere.

Yes, but there's something strange about the dates since the 'Licence due' (aka Road Fund Licence, aka Tax) date is more than a year in the future and bearing in mind that SORN is now continuous (i.e. not needing annual renewal) it shouldn't be shown as due 07/02/15.
From the DVLA website.......

When you need to make a SORN

You don't have to buy a tax disc if you don't use or keep your vehicle on a public road (eg you keep it in a garage, on a drive or on private land). You must make a SORN instead. Your SORN is valid until your vehicle is taxed, sold or scrapped.

Your vehicle must be in and remain in Great Britain to make a SORN.

Since it's apparently not insured (according to the AskMid database) it can't have been taxed recently. In any case the road fund licence runs for complete months, not from the precise date when it was taxed. :?
Still, it's good to know that PBN 17 is still on the Matchless and not some poseurs Maserati/BMW/Porsche/Grudge Special..........
