654 ALE

Post by Eamonn »

Email just received:
In 1961 I bought a new AJS Model 20 bike from Pullens in East Dulwich, South East London with a quite distinctive number plate 654 ALE.
I kept it for four years and, having got a company car with my job and a girl friend who was too concerned about her hair to wear a crash helmet, I eventually sold it to an acquaintance with a young family. He attached a Busmar double adult sidecar to my beloved bike which broke my heart and I could see the bike wasn't too pleased either!
I moved from London soon after and lost contact with my bike and it's owner.
I would be interested to know if, through the members of your club, anyone knows whether this bike is still going. If it still has the original registration number I would think it would be quite a prize. Unfortunately I don't have the engine or frame numbers.
I have photos taken in 1963 if anyone has the bike and would be interested.
If anyone has any info., I'll pass it on.
