Front brake stay

My own experience in tackling the same problem was to get a stainless replica made.Having a contact in the business,I gave him my sorry looking example & he kindly manufactured another, in of course a high grade stainless, which was also slightly thicker. To fit I had to make a couple of minor bends to allow for the extra material but wow I was most impressed. A quick polish was all that was required,no chrome to rust, looks great & far stronger.fit & forget.I think I paid around $75.

John,
Sorry to see the need? to change front brake stay. I did not believe this to be a common problem. Is there another reason for the fracturing??

This is the first machine I have restored,& my front stay was shaped like a banana, which also included fracturing in the metal.Maybe through old age this is the result? All I know was that the second hand selection I was able to see were of similar condition.
Maybe someone else could shed some light?
