I believe it would, there's no longer any distance restriction - time to close the borders ;)

From Gov.UK:

"1.7 Are there restrictions on how far I can travel for my exercise or outdoor activity?

No. You can travel to outdoor open space irrespective of distance. You shouldn't travel with someone from outside your household unless you can practise social distancing - for example by cycling. Leaving your home - the place you live - to stay at another home is not allowed."

I think, but haven't read the whole document, that the expectation is that your execise would take more time than time expended to get to the destination, but that may be complete nonsense. The key interpretation point for the "alternator test" is the definitiion of "outdoor activity".

It's really a pedantic point. The letter of the regulations versus their intention.

I've just returned from a very long car journey. Linda had to go and care for her step mother after her 4 heart attacks and subsequent fitting of a stent all within a 2 week period. She has luekaemia and previously shattered her right shoulder limiting her use of that arm. Despite this she was caring for Linda's Dad until he died towards the end of February. She needs 24 hour support for now. There's no-one else to do the job for her and the hospital beds are at a premium. Yes, it was a long drive, but what else to do?
