Leaking petrol lines.

Post by spotpaul »

Hi everyone, brand new to my g5 and working through various, (interesting) jobs. Removed the petrol tank to wire up indicators. Refit the tank and turned on petrol. Fuel leaking out. Question is - should there be washers at the joint directly above petcock?Looks like one had perished rubber. Seems to be leaking from main and reserve. Reserve had no sign of a gasket, but could have fallen out whilst storing the tank. Any help much appreciated. Thank you,
Terry.

Yes there should be, either a fibre washer or a Dowty washer, either is good, the club has some: http://www.jampot-spares.com/store/come ... tItems.asp

Just to confirm this is between the petrol tap and the tank.

If fuel only leaks out when the petrol tap is turned on its likely to be dry corks.

A roll of gasfitters PTFE tape can be invaluable for sealing joints on leaky petrol lines.
