Post by arty »

Hello, just putting the head back after finding out where the oil leak was coming from, (found no washers were fitted either side of the pushrod tube oil seal !!) now got the parts but not sure which way the dished washer under the seal goes, dished side down or up?
Thanks Arty

The dish sits the same way as the contour on the pushrod tube. Its the lower one. So dished side up.

Note. Washers 'A' and 'D' are required only when a compression plate is fitted.
Also check very carefully that washer 'B' really isn't already in place in the head as it is easy to think it's part of the head casting. (Folk have sworn blind that one isn't already there until they do a proper check). If you inadvertently fit a second one the bottom flanges of the pushrod tubes will crush/split when you tighten down the head.

Thanks Spriddler for the prompt reply, I did put the bottom washer as you said following the contour of the P/R tube but no harm in checking before putting the Head back on and no there wasn't any of the flat washers in place.

Check that the flat washer isn't right up inside the head. They often don't fall out.
