1949 AJS 350 Magneto sprockets

Post by Mac01 »

Afternoon, I am about to fit the two drive sprockets for the magneto.
Are they the same for the camshaft mounted one and the magneto mounted one ?
They look identical.
I've looked at the parts list and they have different part numbers. (obviously indicating that they are different)

Any advice welcome.

Thanks.
Mac.

If you blow the sprocket pictures up, the engine sprocket STD 727 ( new pt. no. 000727 ) does look deeper where the nut fits, also longer at the back than the dynamo sprocket.. This should be seen when you look at both together. You could fit them loosely and with something suitable, place on them to see if they line up OK.

Thanks Rob, I have since measured both and one does indeed look deeper.
I will do as you suggested.
