1/4 BSF is the same as 1/4 BSCyc at 26tpi. Other BSF sizes vary the tpi.
I know this cos only this afternoon I made two new stainless steel frame centre panel thumbscrew for the G80 after losing one of the chrome ones. Club spares are out of stock and at the price it was worth spending an hour making a pair.

1/4 BSF and 1/4 BSC have the same pitch, i.e. 26tpi, but they are NOT the same. BSF threads have a 55 degree thread angle, 60 degrees for BSF. Using a mismatched pair means the load is not taken on the whole thread flank, but on a small part of it, significantly weakening the load carrying capacity of the fastening, and making it more likely to vibrate loose. This may not matter on a lowly stressed part like a panel thumbscrew, but could lead to problems on fastenings carrying greater loads. Andy

But be aware that their BSF/Cycle fasteners are not high tensile (I asked them).

Hi

And aren't they all set bolts, or did I miss something?
