Good afternoon and Happy new Year to you all.
I'm ready to set up the ignition timing on my 1949 Model 16 (cylinder head off)
As far as I have read, its piston, 7/16 of an inch before TDC, on the firing stroke, fully advanced, points just opening. (points, 12 thou gap)
Is this correct ?
Many thanks.
Mac.

Or half an inch BTDC with the better fuel now available than in 1949. Try setting it for half inch and see if it runs best at fully advanced or better a tad less advanced. You will know what is best then next time you set it.
