Daft question

Post by MalcW »

Hi all. According to the workshop manual, the needle in the Monobloc on my 1960 650 should be on the 4th notch. Is that counting from the top, i.e. the needle is 4 notches up? A moment of uncertainty...

Cheer, and Merry Christmas

Hi Mick

That's a handy link - I'll bookmark that.

Thanks. I was 90% sure that was the case, but wanted to be 100% before I took the seat off to get the tank off to get the carb top off...

Cheers,

Why not just take the carb off leave the tank and seat where they are?

Hi Tony, that's what I did in the end. It's more a question of getting the carb back on, as there is very little free choke and throttle cable, so getting the choke and throttle slides back in can be somewhat fiddly.

The answer to that would be to not cable tie the cables tight to the frame under the tank
I only use one cabletie half way between the headstock and saddle pin left very loose
just to allow the tank to be refitted. It also means you can change cables on the road without
removing the tank and it cuts out those tight bends that make cables stiff to work.
