JB weld, you have to be a bit careful as the fumes from the fuel make it quite runny and cause it to take a little longer to set. I drained the tank and left the fuel flap open but the remaining vapours still slowed the curing. Once set it was fine and the fuel never caused any issue with the JB afterwards.

You now have me completely interested as to how you removed the original fitting.
Edit: Having investigated further it would be a relatively easy job. Probably will make that mod.
