Early AMC type gearbox measurement

Post by RayBeech »

Hi folks, does anyone out there have the measurement from the face of the box (where the end case bolts to) and the end of the top/bottom mounting lugs please? Reason for asking is I have a casing to repair as it has had the lugs cut down for some reason and I need to build them back up to 3 1/2" and want to make sure they only had material removed from one end - or whatever - to rebuild to the correct dimensions. Thanks Ray.

Ray, bare casings are items that may still be found. Having been stripped for their innards, no one wants them. I once had a wheel barrow full of bare 1920/30's bare casings, considered scrap. May be easier to replace rather than repair yours.

Thanks Rob but if I can get the measurement it is an easy fix as I can mill it square and weld in a section of alloy plate i can do all that for nothing if I can get the dimension. 242017 - any chance of taking the measurement please?

Sorry, I do not have an early AMC gearbox to measure Ray. Year/ model may be required perhaps.

Please use the website advertising feature, or the advertising section of the forum to offer goods for sale. Better still perhaps provide Ray with the dimensions he is requesting.

They've all read your post and all given you replies that you did not want! The dimension you want is 62 mm or 2 15/32 inch.
