hi pete , its on the left like robs diagram shows .
some models have the lever positioned horizontally and some are positioned facing vertical on the handlebars , my 56 model 30 is vertical . .
maximum advance is when lever is fully closed but for starting engine you need to pull the lever open so you have about 1/4" of the cable slot showing , so its retarded and wont kick back on you ..

I may not be the one for your bike though. But I think all models have standard lay out, some not all the controls like AR lever a valve lifter.Peteg wrote:Cheers for that Rob
