i sent for a 6volt dynamo repair kit uk made from you know who site.(it was a full repair kit that our shop did not have )
it came Saturday , I removed mine today only to find that mine is a E3AR AO 5 . its armature length is 160mm long and the brush end diameter is 25mm.
the new one is 168mm long and 27mm diameter (that will be returned )
the bike is a 1950 ally engine 18c 500 single
so would you normally expect to see this type fitted E3AR ,, what's it off and where can I get one off the shelf ?
thanks steve

Re: dynamo armature E3AR whats it off
Have a look at the Luacs parts lists, eg here, for some of the relevant info on model differences. Not a totally straightforward matter! http://www.brightsparkmagnetos.com/libr ... 0chart.pdf
For what you should or shouldn't have, in theory (although there are always options, retro-fits etc), see eg here http://www.brightsparkmagnetos.com/libr ... achine.pdf
Lucas said the bike would have had an E3AR if it's 1950; E3N thereafter. What's on there could be either, and there are subtle and less subtle differences between them which the first reference cited above should make clear. These lists take a bit of combing through to get to the answer sometimes.
