Route of wiring loom

Post by McMaz »

1962 G3 - Can anyone tell me the correct route the wiring loom follows after exiting the headlamp? Particularly if it goes through the hole (with grommet) in the lower fork yoke or simply runs round the steering head part of the frame on its way to the coil.

Thanks, Sean

Hi

Straight from the headlamp shell, round the steering head and along the frame top tube.

Thanks Mick - thought that was probably the case but couldn't find any images that confirmed it. However now intrigued to know what the 'hole (with grommet) in the lower fork yoke' is for - certain cables from the handlebars perhaps?

Hi

I have the speedo and front brake cables routed through the lower yoke.

Not sure that a grommet was originally fitted there though - possibly a POs mod

Ah I see - G80 CS and G12 CS only - that's why I didn't recognise it, (albeit mine is a 61 G3)

Mick & Stuoyb – thanks for the info. Re. the grommet – I know the top and bottom yokes have been replaced so they are more than likely not off a G3.

Hi Mc,

Hole is in the same place on my 1960 G3 without a grommet, with the front brake cable passing through. Sure as I can be that yokes are original, but no guarantee of course.
Will take a look to see if speedo cable could be routed hole through if desired.

Regards, Steve
