1957 G11 Matchless

The petrol tank on my bike is painted black with gold trim. Is this correct for year or should it be partially chromed.

Mine is black and that's a '57 G11, but I do wonder if mine has the correct tank as you can look through the gap between the tank and seat and see the carb! Is that right? [:I]

I also don't have to look and lean side-ways when I'm tickling the carb for a cold morning start. [:D]
