Re: Hi
Hi Ralph, welcome and good luck finding your AJS. The North West section are an active, friendly bunch. We have a member in Morecambe and 2 in Lancaster. In fact we're spread as far as Millom! We meet at Charnock Richard FC on the first thursday at 8pm every month. See our website: ajsmatchlessnw.org.uk
Cheers Dave

Re: Hi
Welcome to the Forums, Ralph.
I'd recommend buying from a club member or from Kettering Classics (link on the main website).
There are 9 current adverts for Ajays for sale on the club main website but as you are not yet a subscribing member I don't think you can view the current ads but just a selection of old ones.

You've had old bikes before so you probably already know, but treat any bike listed as 'Restored' or 'Reliable runner' etc. from a dealer or auction site with circumspect unless there are at the very least some receipts. Too often we have disappointed new owners posting on here.
As a 'Guest' your access to the Forums is time limited and Club spares are available only to subscribing members.
Good luck.

Re: Hi
Thanks for that chaps, yes I have had enough bikes to know what a can of worms they can be.
I have a bike in mind owned by someone I know but due to christmas not had chance to have
a good look I will be asking questions when I know more.
Have owned between over 65 bikes in my time most have been older a lot have been Velocettes

Re: Hi
Nice bike. I'm also impressed with the bicycle with the Carradice and Bluemel Lightweight guards!
Welcome to the club. The lads and lasses have been very helpful to me.

Re: Hi
Hi Dave
Regret selling them both, the Harris took a bit of sorting though it was very low miles, it would break spokes
on the drive side of the rear wheel, fixed by fitting heavy duty spokes, no problem after, and it would rich cut
at high throttle settings cured by cutting 2 or 3 big holes round the air box, it ran well after that and a good
80mph cruiser.
The CS was no problem at all open the throttle and it would pull from low revs in any gear and it would just lunge forward, a great bike.
