Today I have mostly been

Post by Plugsnpoints »

polishing my engine and gearbox while they're sitting on the bench.

Actually I was only an hour, but I wanted to share it with you.

I've discovered Solvol aluminium polish. It was a couple of quid more than the normal stuff but loads better than the ordinary Solvol. A few gentle rubs and they're gleaming.

I took a punt, and cynically thought it might be the same, but it's a different colour for a start.

Anyway, that's my first new year top tip.

What new things have you found recently?

I wish you all the best in 2020, ride safe and sure, and have fun aplenty.

What have you discovered? This is the 'normal' one, Autosol Solvol, the only one I know.

£4 for a 75g tube at Wilkos

Think he means this one. A finer grade and ammonia- free. Ive never used it so don't know how effective it is. I use Peek, mainly cos Ive got a big tin of it ;)

For those of us with stainless pipes, this stuff is superb. It brought the pipes on my BMs up like new with no effort - they do turn blue again though eventually.

That's the one Steve. It's grey rather than the creamy colour of the standard Solvol. It's specifically designed for aluminium. I think it's brilliant if you'll excuse the pun. I bought mine from eBay.
