Re: New member
Welcome Mark,
I was a new boy in Jampot Land a couple of years ago with the acquisition of a '53 AJS 16MS. It's my only rideable bike at the moment and I've done something like 6800 marvellous miles on it already.
There is a wealth of information from both the forum members and the archive. Whatever your question, the chances are that it's been asked and there's an answer or six to be found, so ask away!
Good luck with the new bike, once you are up and running you'll love it.
Alan

If you have any car boot sales your way check out the old tools boxes etc. for spanners. You'll probably pay about 10p /50p each. Get a couple of each size as you often need to hold both ends of bolts or studs. Open ended plus ring spanners are very handy. You may also find a riveted set of small BA spanners cheap for points and electrics. Large spanners for rear wheel, fork top nuts etc are a little more difficult to find. Also more specialised tools like C spanners and clutch spring nut tools. Check out club spares for those more special tools.

You won't be the first or last to have done that if it turns out that way. It'll make you find way more about the bike you have and then provide greater satisfaction when you've whipped the beggar into shape.Haha, yes, that was me!Are you the young man that I spoke to at Netley Marsh and suggested you join straight away? If so then welcome, told you you'd get lots of help from the boys here.
I'm hoping that I haven't picked up a complete dog!
No doubt I will be a regular on here soon!!

I bought a '55 M18S that was supposed to have been restored by the previous owner. I soon found out that his definition of 'restored' was a lot different to mine. There were very many 'bodges' and just plain incorrect fitments. I'm still sorting it out 2 years down the line. It'll be nice when I've finished(?) itmarkwhitelock wrote: Haha, yes, that was me!

Yes its buyer beware. I bought my first G80 and rode it home. When i went round it with spanners i found the rear wheel locked up if the spindle was tightened up (spacers in the wrong order, easy fix). I checked a lot more after that!
