Feked off

Post by Plugsnpoints »

So I chose to ignore all the bad comments on here and decided to order some bits from Feked. They duly arrived within a few days.

It wasn't the biggest order it has to be said-5 crimp on fuel pipe ferrules.

Two were fine but the other three were ropey with poor plating. I emailed them straight away with a photograph to prove it, with a polite note asking how to resolve it. I followed it up with a phone call. I was told they "don't have a phone in the other building where the orders are taken".

Finally after a chase up email today they replied, with a link to look at their terms and conditions. They agreed that they aren't aesthetically pleasing, but if I wanted to send them back I had to pay for the return postage if I wanted a refund. It'd cost more than the price of the parts.

Maybe I am a grumpy old man, but a little give and take wouldn't hurt in this day and age. As the pipes are on show I like them to look ok.

For the sake of three quid they've put me off dealing with them again. There's plenty of nicer people to buy from. What they seem to forgotten is owning these old machines is never ending expense. I'm pleased I learned for just a few quid. I wouldn't recommend them.

Moan over, life's too short- have a good weekend everyone!

Hi

Poor service and quality of products seems to be a common issue unfortunately. I'm on my third classic restoration, (three different manufacturers), and my mental list of suppliers, based on personal experience, that I am confident to deal with is very much shorter than the list of ones I will only use as a last resort.

My rule of thumb is now to use small companies, usually operated by lone enthusiasts, in preference to the big players - their products are usually better quality and often cheaper compensating for the sometimes longer delivery period.

I don't know why anyone uses them - they're expensive.

That's a shame as they are just down the road from me and I was hoping to use them for bits for my G80 in the future!

Is there a list of reliable parts suppliers somewhere on here?

That's a shame to hear, they are only down the road from me so I was hoping to use them! Which suppliers do people generally recommend for G80 spares?

1. The club spares - excellent service, with fast delivery
2. AMC Spares - http://www.amcclassicspares.com - again excellent service, but wish they invest in an online service
3. Russell Motors - http://www.russellmotors.co.uk (best to visit and speak to Les)
4. Acne Stainless Ltd - https://acmestainless.co.uk (nuts, bolts, oil pipes and more)

For seats - http://www.rk-leighton.co.uk (see Henry Cole's motorcycle show)

Just done a nut and bolt restoration on a G3 and have got all parts needed from the above.

Hi

In addition to Chapper's recommendations, I've been very happy with the quality of service and products from:

Auto Electric Supplies - https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/ - good for period wiring components.

Armours - https://www.armoursltd.co.uk/ - exhaust components

Devon Rim Company - https://www.devonrimcompany.com/ - wheel components

here is the answer I got from Feked, when I told them that the siamese pipe system the had sent me was wrong and poor quality: but the AMC bikes are all slightly different, they were rubbish when new, they are still rubbish
