What is the best way to clean Wellseal ?

I found always difficult to clean Wellseal compound. What is the best solvent to use ?

Petrol - works brilliantly, I use a paper kitchen towel.

Methylated spirits removes it.

I spoke with the manufacturer some time back and they recommended cellulose thinners, and yes works well. kind regards

I think white spirit will do it.

Acetone whips it off. Nail varnish is near enough pure acetone if you can't get the real stuff.

Back from the shed !
According your advices, i tried what I have on the shelves : petrol, thinner (but synthetic, not cellulose) and acetone.
Acetone works pefectly, on fresh, but also on old dried Welseal.

as an aside whenever I go to France I always buy a bottle of acetone, don't think you can get it in the U.K. kind regards

I bought 5 litres from a vendor on eBay. No problem getting it in the UK.

My word it is cheap there too! A very good all-round solvent. Don't get it on paintwork or plastic though.......
