Dynamo brushes sparking.
Ive been servicing my dynamo today on my 55 350 heavyweight. Cleaned comutater , brushes checked wiring etc. Ive noticed with engine running in a dark garage very small sparks can be seen where the brushes contact the comutater . The dynamo is working normaly ie charging the battery when the headlight is switched on. So im not too worried about this but just wondered if this sparking was normal.

Re: Dynamo brushes sparking.
I am sure in the dark you will see some sparking. Even more so if the comutater has any burns or scuffing, brushes will also need to bed in. Worn bearings may encourage sparking.laxy wrote:Ive been servicing my dynamo today on my 55 350 heavyweight.
