Fork Sliders - To paint or not to paint ....
I have a 1949 G80 that was exported to Australia. AMC appear to have painted the fork sliders black up until about 1951 for all the models in the AJS/Matchless range. Can anyone confirm this and when AMC made the change? After this date, the forks appear to have been left in the aluminium finish although I can't determine the date. I am only going by photos I have seen. What is the correct finish for my machine? Cheers, Tim

49 G80 should have black sliders or at least the Uk spec did. http://archives.jampot.dk/promotional/S ... ochure.pdf

The question asked by Tim was "what is the correct finish for my machine"" so I expect that is what he wants.spookefoote1956 wrote:My question is ..... how do you want them finished?

Most helpful Clive. I didn't realise that I wasn't allowed to ask a question.

Sometimes helpful to answer a request with what information is available to you rather than with another question.spookefoote1956 wrote:Most helpful Clive. I didn't realise that I wasn't allowed to ask a question.

Hi Clive, As per the attachment, My G80 is the 'Clubman'. This then shows a black enamel. So that would answer the question. I am considering powder coating the frame and all those black parts. Thank you. Tim
