650s

Post by MalcW »

650 twins seem to be getting popular again. I see that Norton are bringing out a couple, available next spring. Then there are the new Royal Enfield 650 twins, Honda do one, as do Kawasaki.

Does this mean my Model 31 is back in fashion?

I don't think 650's were ever really unfashionable, not like centre partings and nylon shirts. It's just that their true worth is just being recognised. We are trendsetters!

I have a centre parting - a large round one on the top of my head. Ah, nylon shirts, those were the days. Electric shocks from practically everything you touched. We're definitely trendsetters though.
Incidentally, what tyres do you have on yours? I've just fitted Avon Roadriders - big difference! Also, LED front sidelight and speedo bulb; the dynamo can keep up a bit better now.

Agree - Don't think swinging arms will catch on either.

I have Dunlop TT100s fitted to my 650 and I have no complaints about the handling. I have an LED headlight which draws only the faintest whiff of current and I'm not sure the dynamo even notices it.

All these no standard parts openly being fitted to our classic bikes. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I have just pumped up my tyres with recycled 1950s air
