Tank badge screws
I have just started a restoration on a '54 Matchy G3LS and wondering are the screws for the tank badges 3/16 BSF or 2BA? I'm thinking BSF, but would like it confirmed. thanks for any help.

I thought they were 3BA - but wait for someone wiser to confirm! Andy

Hi Bernie
I'm not sure if the search facility, (magnifying glass top right), is available to guest members, (one of many good reasons to join the club), but if you type in 'tank badge screw size' it brings up 17 results confirming Andy51's thoughts - 3BA

Re: Tank badge screws
Tank badge screws were introduced in the prewar era. Parts lists gave sizes then for STD fittings. I keep on mentioning this, so you can quite easily and quickly find out for yourself. Check the pt. no. you want against the new / old parts list part number converter book. You should see the pt. no. 000153 for your tank badge screw. If you see a pt. no. start with 3 or more zeros, delete the zero's and prefix it with STD. 000153 becomes old pt. no. STD153, any parts list pre 1952 may show the sizes, using the old part number. But the converter book is best. Then you will see for yourself the screw is 3BA 5/16" long Chrome plated. If you have an older bike that gives a different pt. no. 000150 is Bright head, 000151 is Black head, 000152 is Bronze. Pre 1952 numbers STD150, STD 151 & STD 152 all are 3BA x 5/16"
