The workshop manuals for these old bikes often mention electroplating to restore worn fits.

Re: Electroplating
Hi
I re-plated, (zinc), the majority of the fasteners on my Triumph restoration using similar methods, I bought a variable DC power supply as I found phone chargers etc. to provide too much flow resulting in a grainy finish.
A soft brass brush, (the type used for cleaning your 'Hush Puppies'), really brings up the finish after plating.
Cheap zinc / carbon batteries from the pound shop are an easy source of zinc sheet.
Regards Mick

6"x 6" 10 gauge zinc soakers can be bought at any roofing materials supplier for around £1 each.
