My December 1959 M31 AJS has that single rear tank mounting and Roy's frame photo is same as my frame .

That's correct it will have as it'll be a 60 model, factory year ran from Sept, so Sept 59 onwards will be a 60 model. That said, for a twin of that year model the correct tank will have the horseshoe bracket at the rear and 2 studs welded on the underside of the tank.
