Sad news. Bruce Main Smith is a name I have been familiar with almost since I started riding motorcycles. I have all sorts of manuals and literature bought from him over the years.

I knew Bruce when he worked as a turner on nose cones for guilded missiles W202 at Vickers-Armstrong's (Aircraft) Ltd, Weybridge at Brooklands back in 1957/8, he was an absolute nutter out every lunchtime leaving black streaks of rubber from the rear tyre of his Vincent when he was testing it out on standing starts. He left Vickers to become a journalist on either the Motor Cycle or Motor Cycling magazine. Met him some years later at a Vincent Owners Club evening at Box Hill. MikeM
