Rear tyre combo sidecar.

Post by vincentvv »

Hello all,

I am in need of a new tyre for my sidecar matchless, what do you guys use on yours and what do you think about the Avon triple duty sidecar tyre? Price is not correct since I found this much cheaper in Belgium... width is 57, aint that a bit to small?

Kind regards,

Vincent!

Best set up is Triple duty on the front and Avon SM on the rear. The narrower section of the triple duty makes the steering slightly lighter and with its stiffer sidewall not as prone to flexing when pushed. The SM on the rear won't last as long but has a greater surface area than the triple and is the best compromise.

Isn`t the `57` the load rating ? nothing to do with width

I use 3.50 x 19" front and rear. Also take on board what I said about the spokes. It'll save you a lot of heartache in the long run if you go up in diameter on the size, front and rear. I used to break rear spokes on a regular basis and then upped the gauge on advice from specialists and never replaced any again.
