Tuning info for a Typhoon with competition mag.

Post by Braaap »

I posted recently re spares availability for G80CS.
Well i've bought the bike 😊

Turns out it has a 600 crank in it... but due to the engine shop making a hash of boring the cylinder... it has been put back to a standard 86mm piston with a new barrel. (89mm for 600).
Does anyone have timing and mag setting info for a 600 single... and for the BTH Mag please?

Calcs suggest a cc rating around 560.

I am familiar with the technique to set timing... just need the number of degrees before top dead centre for a 600 crank,(96mm stroke)... and points gap for the BTH please.

Don't know about °BTDC at full advance (mid/upper 30s maybe?) but 12 thou for the points gap.

Generally accepted at 1/2" (of piston movement) B.T.D.C. for full advance. If you know the "stroke" of your crank and the centre distance of your connecting rod (gudgeon pin to big end journal)... which I don't, unfortunately, it's simple geometry to work out the degrees of crank rotation that will give you the 1/2" B.T.D.C position.
I'm from the Fens.... Gimme six.
