What is this used for?
Anyone know what this is used for, had it amongst my collection of spares for years, it's got TAPOOL written on it,
Guessing some kind of bike spanner for motorcycles?

I think it's a plumber's spanner. The right angled end is used for the (virtually inaccessible) nuts when fitting basin taps.
The selection of 'open' nut cut-outs enable the spanner to be used on piping nuts, I.e. compression fittings, (where a ring spanner couldn't be used).

Neville is right, I have the same spanner. Not sure what the rounded, toothed (?) holes are for though

Hmm, Mikey, there's also a clue in the stamping on the spanner. When I enlarged the pic it says 'TAPTOOL' not 'TAPOOL' as you wrote!!mikeydpippin wrote: it's got TAPOOL written on it,

On a lot of old taps the spindle was square at the top, onto which fitted T bar type knob. Knobs often came off and got lost. Perhaps the slots also acted as a key to turn a tap on / off after the knob and other fittings had been removed?Peter Morris wrote:Neville is right, I have the same spanner. I suspect the "toothed" holes could be for slipping over a pipe with an olive fitted then tapping with a hammer to remove said olive to fit a new one once moved along the taper of the hole.
