Research on old WWII bikes

Hi - I am trying to find out some information on this bike for a someone. The Number on the tank is C5260. Is there anyone in the club who specialises in researching these numbers, what they mean or who holds data sets on them? It looks like a G3. Any info would be of great interest. Thanks Stephen

The dutch army also had the G3 in service for a while...

Frame & engine numbers tell about the bike. Are you sure that C number is complete with only 4 digits.
Note the bike has tele forks, which makes it a G3L.

bsa wd m20 website is actually all to do with military, mostly war time bikes, BSA slanted of course but most helpful when it comes to contract numbers and other information, there is also a site for the G3l wd bikes on the net, kind regards

None of the links will help without having info I first advised of. You need frame & engine numbers. Which by now may be from two different machines. From these numbers you could discover the WD Contract number If you have only the military C number allocated, you may not get very far. In fact nowhere unless that number is correct. As I said in the first instant, I do not think C 5620 is the complete Serial number allocated. The complete number not seen is really end of search. I can give no more info without numbers, except the bike appears G3L not G3. The picture looks gen so the number should also be gen. not some restorers fictitious number, if you can see it all.

Hi Rob - on closer scrutiny the full number is C52603, that's the only number available.

Hi Colin, - been very useful and friendly - narrowed (?!!!!) it down to about 4500 bikes to choose from !!!

- but the hunt is still on.
