Ooops, I meant 600 miles not 60. Looks like I'll need a total rebuild, as I won't know what parts were starved of oil. Hey Hum, it'll keep me out of mischief. I've never stripped a AJS single motor, but I guess they aren't that complicated.

My G3L only does about 60, that's why I just bought a Vincent Rapide; it does that in second.

In this instance I don't think the hare and tortoise analogy is appropriate, Ken; but only time will tell!

Well, I got the bike back from the recovery, and have taken the top off in the garage. The big end is seized solid!!
I will have to take it to someone who is far more engineering based than I, as apart from having no space to comlpetely strip a bike, I would prefer someone who knows about these bikes to interpret WHY it seized.
Who, in your humble opinions are the Guru's who are best able to bring my beauty back to its former self?

Now theres a can of worms.
In my humble opinion, there is nothing wrong with the "original" crankpin.
The problems seem to start with the availiable replacements over the years, leading mostly to breakage and subsequent further damage; I have had the side of the crank case knocked out.
Also, due to the almost parallel fit of the pin in the flywheels there is often a looseness.
Fitting a BSA pin solves al this, and a pin that will stand up to Gold Star use has to be more than adequate for an AMC plodder.
Saggers will charge around £200 ish for this mod, and insists on doing all of the bottom end at the same time, or not at all. Sound proposition in my book.
When you consider that this is not a lot more than the price of a pin from the club, which you may not be able to use if you are unlucky, not a bad price.
As I`ve said before, he`s the only bloke I`ve ever entrusted my bikes bits to.
Sound as a pound engineering.

Sounds good to me. Don't know if I'll be able to strip the engine out though. Looks like I'll have to source extractors for the clutch and things, not to mention the lack of any room in the garage to work in.
