hi,
just observing the complexity of AJS/Matchless models..
smart looking bike advertised as a 1959 M18...and has alloy chaincase of that year with alternator within..but rather than coil ignition as on my 1958 model..has magneto with manual advance and retard of the earlier models.
Also i note toolbox lid..mine is the only one for the year I've seen like that with the plain finish as opposed to a 'grill' or 'vent'
The headlamp nacelle has the separate speedo..i thought models after 1957 had them built in flush like my 1958..
Every seat looks a different shape and size..i guess at around 60 years old they are all reproduction covers now.
Hope the new owner finds it goes as well as it looks.
happy riding
Mac

It's very shiney but it has lots of parts from earlier models, pattern rear mudguard with no separate end piece, etc .
By the way those 'plain' toolbox lids and matching oiltanks were only fitted (originally) to 1956 models.

thanks Dave and Johnny B for info on panels...makes you wonder why anyone would need (want) to replace those items..would have thought those could be could be restored unless bike was dredged from a canal..
