I think once Rob sees this photo there will be a lot more info coming Burman gear box AMC clutch, that's the trouble when someone builds a bike out of bits you just don't know what has been fitted or home made i have never seen a center nut like that.

So that's why it looked very familiar to me. I thought I was looking in the wrong section of the forum.

And that's why they who know about these things need to have some patience with those who don't.

I thought you were going to say it had been one of yours.

Hi

What you were viewing when you looked through the clutch adjuster access hole in the chain case was the pressure plate and yes it may not be concentric - (the spring cups are not a tight fit in the hub), I wouldn't worry about a mm or so, it will sort itself out after the first engagement once the engine is running.

If the hub is lose on the gearbox input shaft you need to investigate as to why.

I notice there's no clutch adjuster fitted in your photo - trust you removed it before you took the photo, (ie it was there when you first had a problem).

I was making a reply and saw this come in. The clutch does not match up with the circa 55 gearbox used, so a custome thrust rod and cable may need to be made to over come the adjustment problem.

see this. Fitting AMC clutch to older burman box seems to have been going on some time in the past., perhaps some one knows how to and has overcome the problems using these non standard set ups. Only they can really answer questions. What was correct thrust rod cable etc does not apply now we know whats on the bike.

Hi

That nut looks like the standard AMC clutch centre retaining nut - once you get the nut off you may need to use the clutch centre extractor tool to free the centre.

Is the hub firmly attached to the input shaft - does it run concentric?

OK....... i have just manager to NIP the inner
nut tighter using long nose pliers with a lever
Inside the jaws and now have no free play.
My problem now is the short trust rod sent by club
Club Spares...... do you think is setting another
Ball at the opposite end would work ?

With the set up you have you cannot by any standard parts from the Club and think they will fit.
