Hi Steve,
Broughton Lubricants near Preston are a Castrol agent. Or have you a Hydraulics shop near you. They usually sell all kinds of oil (or can get it for you). I used to work near Trax Hydraulics who had a full range of Rock oil. By the way where've you been?
Cheers Dave

Out of curiosity, when you say "its not got to be Castrol", do you mean other oils are acceptable or that Castrol is not?

Wilko doesn't sell straight sae oils although, no help to you, but for those who use multigrade, they do sell 5 litres 20/50 classic car oil for £15.

My bikes are happy running on Wilco 20/50 CLASSIC oil £15 for 5 litres.
Straight SAE 50 is not as straight as its title. It thins when it warms up, so is more like 50 / 20.
