ajs stormer clutch

ajs stormer clutch
Hello everyone, I have a 1972 ajs stormer 250 and i'm having trouble putting my clutch back together. the last plate I have to install witch looks like a bowl it will not insert fare enough so the big clip will fit. please help

Hello John,
I'm not familiar with the two-stroke AJS scramblers but understand that they have a diaphragm clutch, similar to a Norton Commando or Triumph Trident. I believe that this type of clutch requires a special clutch spring compressor in order to dismantle and assemble the clutch. If you need one, I think AJS of Andover will be able to supply you.
