Matchless - Concours Winner

Post by Rohan B. »

Folks,
The URL below is a poor photo of the bike deemed to be the winner of the recent "Phil Irving Concours" of the HMCCQ (Historic MotorCycle Club of Queensland). Good showing of a wide variety of bikes, including a 1901 Stevens. (more on that soon)

In case you are not familiar with the model, it is a 1949 ? Shelsey Walsh Matchless ( a short stroke Matchless engine in 7R AJS cycleparts). The poor
photo (mine !!) does not do it justice, it was truly immaculate. The owner (John) machined up the shorter con-rod required, since none were
available, and was a work-of-art in its own right. It was also over-all winner at the AJS/Matchless International Rally in New Zealand earlier this year. A model the factory should have produced ??.
