Magneto drive

I'm not particularly au fait with model changes, but the location of the magneto was definitely not random. Matchless had the mag. behind the pot up to 1949, when it was transferred to the front in line with AJS. Randomness (is that a word?) may appear to occur when an early engine is fitted to a later frame, or vice-versa, the bike of course taking it's date from the frame, or at least the bit bearing the frame number
