Open letter to Jampot Spares Limited
Dear Sirs,
Could I not be trusted to pay the extra £1.68.
Did you have to with hold my order?
Did you have to ruin my Bank Holiday days off.
The cheque is in the post
Many thanks
Stuart Walker[:(!][:(!]

Hi Stuart
I can understand how annoying this must be for you. However............ I send goods out to people for a living and it was always the ones that you expected to pay that didn't and you end up spending £20 chasing £1. Where do you set the limit? Do you let £5 underpayment go? if so then what if it is £5.50? People say "what , you are quibbling over 50p!!!"
It is better to say there is NO allowance. Why not put it on your credit card? That way the bill is paid whatever. Otherwise you could send a 'maximum limit' cheque.
Sorry not to be too sympathetic but if you think about it, should the bulk of the membership subsidise a few poor payers? That is what would happen!
Crikey, I expect a few stern replies [:0]

With whom?
I confess I think anyone who tries to put off paying for anything deserves all they get. [V]
In my case it was 4 free magazines. [:D]

I was 'on the fence' as, with many things, we not in possession of all the facts. Did Stewart get his sums wrong?, had the price of the item(s) been increased since publication of the the spares list. If the former- tough, if the latter then I feel the spares should have been sent with a request for the balance. While appreciating commercial pressures, I have had two instances recently where, in the first case I sent away for number plates without the date on the cheque, the plates arrived, together with the cheque and a request to enter the date and return the cheque. In the second instance, I ordered relined brake shoes without returning the old ones, the shoes arrived with a note asking for the old ones in exchange. I had not dealt with either of the two companies before, and they did not know me from Adam.
