I think the people who are really fed up don't come here anymore.

I would like to see more things saying how wonderful I am.

Maybe a 'Days Out' bit, although I realise that we are spread all over, even further South than Lincoln. Oh yes there are tribes down there.

Possibly more tales of rides people have done, or propose, like Richard and his adventure to Spain.

Did I mention more things saying how wonderful I am?

Tips on how we did a certain job, or how not to do it. That gives us all a chance to contribute.

Tom: Thanks for the suggestion, the VFR site is a large (obviously well-used) forum and as such its contents and usefulness depends on the contributions of its members. Technically it is no different to this forum - all we need is people to contribute ......[:D]

Janet: 'Days out' ? Isn't that the same as the Events list on this site or are you looking for peoples reports of events they have attended? Same thing as I replied to Tom above - we just need the contributors!
Regarding the 'Tips and Techniques', we have the initial start point of the Technical Notes on this site, but I want to expand this to cater for the more mundane things we do as well as the complex things. For example, as a cheap alternative to the specialist fluids use washing-up liquid on the inside of your visor to prevent misting. Quite often its the everyday things that we don't jot down and may help others new to the motorcycling world.

Any more suggestions ????

PS. Janet I think you're wonderful to take time to reply (Tom is as well but I don't want to get a bad reputation here [}:)] )

This site performs one of the main functions, giving information on the club to new members.
From there much of it is down to the users contributing, the layout of this forum is ideal for following threads, unlike some where the posts are recorded in reciept order regardless of topic.

If you want a new look, how about following Chris's example and going to A4 [:D][:D][:D]

The banter has very much made the forum for some people but care must be taken not to put others off by it, some of the posts can seem quite cliquey to new users and might put them off contributing.

Reposts, often due to bad or slow connections, is there any way these can be removed? I know this would take Lawrence back to a "teen" [:D][xx(][:(] but would make the site easier to follow.

Eamonn, I was thinking more of tales of peoples days out rather than a list of events. Especially if something interesting/funny happened, or they went somewhere worth recommending. I wouldn't want it to detract from potty contributions but I think there's a place for both.

I use Mr Sheen to clean my visor. The rain runs off it.

I, too was thinking of the little tips which can be such a boon rather than the full strip down engine jobs.

Eamonn, it just occured to me as was checking something in the help forum. I have no idea of how far back the records on file go but would it be possible to have a search added so that people could search to see if a topic had been raised before. I was really thinking about John Kitchen requesting information about pet sealing oil tanks and I know its been covered in on way or another about three times in the last twelve months.

There already is a search facility. If you go to the top of the page you'll find it between members and FAQ.

It works, too. If you search for Janet you'll find lots of things about me.[;)]

Many thanks Janet I knew that if a search could be done someone would tell me how to do it. I did once suggest somewhere (I will try a search) that Eamonn could write an article in the Jampot about how to use the website, perhaps its a job for a lady?

Regards - Eric [:)]
