AJS Coaches

Postby CharlesDP » Mon Dec 02, 2019 1:54 pm

I know it's not Motorcycle's, but are there any AJS Coaches still running?

I believe there are some that survive Charles. I am sure I have a club Bus magazine somewhere which features AJS buses.

I would like to be proved wrong but I believe that the last AJS badged bus, HWP 569 was in service until 1960 and was derelict by 1968 at Great Whitley when it went to the scrap man. It would be good to know that there is another hiding somewhere.

If you click on the link I gave, it does say all parts went for war effort scarp in 1939. Some buses were built up from these parts. I seems none have survived.

I agree with Rob and believe that the vehicle that I mentioned was one of those built up from parts salvaged from other buses by Moore & Sons of Great Whitley and built under licence from AJS, the last true Wolverhampton built AJS bus having ended service c.1949.

I am quite sure that there is no connection.
