Re: Plug type poll.
Just spent a frustrating 2 weeks trying to get my 1960 G3 (alloy head) to run. Checked everything, including using 2 Champion N5 's, one brand new out the packet. Both gave a good spark whilst lying on the cylinder head.
Today I tried an old Bosch W6B - fired first kick!

Yes, the original specification plugs seem rather cool by modern standards. I don't know if modern fuels run cooler, but I am running a plug in my Lightweight that is considerably hotter than the original spec. I haven't had any issues, the plug stays clean and it starts first kick.
Cold plugs can make an engine a total pig to start.

Re: Plug type poll.
No longer getting posts stating information required for the topic. Started off great, but may as well wind it up now. I may try another forum instead. Will post the final results up to page 4 later.

I think the 1947 AJS Model 18 in your survey results is mine and I corrected the plug types from NGK B6ES/B7ES to B6HS/B7HS (entries 5 & 7). The pdf still shows 'ES' which is long reach and I wouldn't want anyone in the future to use a long-reach plug and risk damaging their engine so could it be corrected, please?
Thanks
