David Woods 01903 724509 (assuming it's chronometric - I don't know if he does magnetic ones)

Hi,

I think Gagg and Sons will repair them.

They have AJS and Matchless stuff. I have bought things from them , new old stock etc in the past. Fine.

Gaggs will just pass it on to some else and charge for being the middle man.
I have used Speedo Repairs and found it a good service and reasonably priced.

Hi Basketcase. Hall is spot on when he sugests A E Popple. I have had several items (both chronometric and magnetic) refurbished by him and he gets my vote. Dont forget to tell whoever does it to retain the odometer reading. Lol.

I contacted A.E. Pople about the magnetic speedo on my Commando which became erratic.
(I had already checked the speedo drive and cable). He said from the description of the fault it sounded like the cable was at fault due to the incorrect length of the squared off section that enters the speedo. Such integrity is a very rare commodity these days - he gets my vote!

Thanks everone, now that the weather has `turned` I`ll take it off and send it away.
Hi Deshollier, I tried the cable (a new one from Jampot spares) and it turned at the speedo end, do you think that the club would sell inferior parts!!!!(only joking).
Funny thing is, the only two parts that I didn`t touch on the rebuild, gearbox and speedo, are the ones which are giving me problems now!
Cheers all, basketcase.

I recently entrusted my Smiths Chronometric speedo to John Heywood for refurbishment. Truly excellent service and turned round in under two weeks. Many thanks John.
